Wedge anchors

Wedge anchors for concrete are mechanical fasteners with an expansion section, used to install bases, brackets and other components in accordance with the intended use of the particular product. The NERON catalogue is divided into zinc-plated anchors, anchors with zinc-flake coating and A4 steel anchors.

Match the design to the environmental conditions and the diameter and length to the fixing design. Before choosing, check the permitted substrate, fixed component thickness and manufacturer installation requirements.

Throughbolt anchors — design and operating principle

In a typical throughbolt anchor, tightening the nut moves the cone relative to the expansion ring or clip. The expansion part presses against the walls of the hole in the concrete. Correct operation requires a suitable substrate and installation according to the instructions for the specific model. The Polish term “pierścieniowa” refers to the expansion mechanism; it does not mean an eye for attaching a strap or rope.

How to select a concrete anchor’s diameter and length?

Dimensions must be considered together with the permissible thickness of the attached component and required anchorage depth. Two anchors with the same thread may differ in length, material, intended use and installation parameters. Do not assume they are interchangeable based solely on the diameter designation.

Check concrete type and condition and the application range specified in the product documentation, including the ETA where applicable.
Compare thread diameter, anchor length and permissible fixing thickness.
Consider minimum edge distances, anchor spacing and substrate thickness.
Select material and coating for the humidity and corrosive environment.
Use the drilling diameter, hole preparation and tightening torque specified by the manufacturer.

Throughbolt anchors — zinc plating, zinc flake and A4

Zinc-plated versions, zinc-flake-coated versions and A4 acid-resistant stainless steel versions form separate catalogue groups. Selection should follow operating conditions and anchor documentation. The coating name alone does not define outdoor durability, and A4 steel is not resistant to every chemical medium.

Frequently asked questions about throughbolt anchors

Is a throughbolt anchor suitable for cracked concrete?

Only if the documentation for the selected model confirms it. Not every expansion anchor has the same approval, even if it looks similar.

What tightening torque should be used?

The value depends on the specific anchor and size. Read it in the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not replace it with a general torque table for ordinary bolts of the same thread.

Does the anchor hole need cleaning?

The installation instructions specify hole preparation. Any simplified procedures apply to specified systems and conditions; they must not be extended to all throughbolt anchors.

Throughbolt anchors at NERON — Piła

When enquiring with NERON at ul. Wybickiego 17 in Piła, provide the anchor designation, required version, dimensions and quantity. Substrate information and attached part thickness help clarify the version and check availability. See the full anchoring components section as well.
