C45 steel bars
C45 carbon steel belongs to the group of materials for quenching and tempering. A carbon content in the range 0,42÷0,45 classifies this grade as ideal for producing moderately loaded machine and equipment components. C45 steel is difficult to weld and is therefore rarely used in steel structure production. These materials exhibit high abrasion resistance, low yield strength and high tensile strength. C45 is also resistant to mechanical damage and impact.
Steel 45 is mainly available on the market as rolled, forged, drawn and peeled bars and forgings. Depending on requirements, this grade can be ordered in the untreated +U, normalised +N, quenched and tempered +QT or soft-annealed +A condition, or for forging +S if the material is to be reforged. In the soft-annealed condition the material has considerably better machinability and is easier to cut.
C45 steel is used to produce parts for aviation, railways and automotive applications, such as gears, rolls, drive shafts, axles, couplings, journals, chains and more.
