Steel products — sheets, sections, tubes and steel bars

Steel products are materials used to make parts, structures and equipment components. The NERON catalogue contains steel in various forms: sheets, blanks, structural sections, profiles, tubes and bars. When selecting material, its grade, manufacturing method, dimensions and project requirements matter. Going to a specific subcategory makes it easier to compare the available variants.

Steel sheets, blanks and wear-resistant plates

Choose square blanks, rectangular blanks or round blanks, depending on the shape required. When comparing sheets, specify the thickness, width and length; for a disc, specify the thickness and diameter. Also check the grade and the description of the selected item's construction.

A separate subcategory of wear-resistant plates includes products described in the catalogue as Hardox or Raex. Hardox is SSAB's brand of wear-resistant steel. When making an enquiry, specify the required brand and material grade; do not treat trade names as automatic confirmation of interchangeability. For a component exposed to abrasion, compare the project requirements with the material data sheet for the specific product.

Steel sections, angles, channels and beams

The range of steel sections is complemented by angles, channels and T-sections. These material groups are used for frames, brackets and other metal components. The cross-section and grade should be selected according to the structural documentation.

The range also includes HEB beams, IPE and IPN. In your enquiry, specify the full section designation and length. Each series has a defined cross-sectional geometry; a similar height alone does not mean they can be substituted in a design.

Bars, flat bars, tubes and stainless steel

To find semi-finished products, use the subcategories for drawn round bars, square bars and drawn flat bars. The catalogue also includes bars designated as grades C45 and 42CrMo4. Compare the grade designation and delivery condition with the documentation for the planned component.

You will find tubes in the groups for seamless tubes, precision seamless tubes and welded tubes. Have the outside diameter, wall thickness and length ready. Products made of stainless steel have their own section — the specific material grade matters here too.

How to prepare an enquiry for steel material?

• Specify the product type and steel grade.
• State the cross-sectional dimensions, thickness and length or sheet size.
• Enter the number of pieces and the units used for dimensions.
• Attach a drawing, the required tolerances and information on further processing, if specified in the design.
• Specify the required material documents if they are needed to fulfil the order.

Which dimensions should I provide when enquiring about a steel section?

Specify the section designation, its dimensions, wall thickness where applicable, length and number of pieces. Include the required steel grade.

Do identical dimensions mean identical material?

No. Products with similar dimensions may differ in grade, manufacturing method and delivery condition. Compare the full specification and agree any substitution with the person responsible for the design.

Can I enquire about a blank with custom holes?

Yes, send a drawing for a service quotation. Specify the outline, holes, thickness, grade and quantity. Manufacturing feasibility and fulfilment details must be confirmed for the specific project.

How can I check the price and availability of a steel product?
