Coupling nuts

Coupling nuts are used to join threaded components, while spacer variants help maintain the required distance in an assembly. Choose DIN 6334 coupling nuts or AN 85 spacer nuts and compare thread, length and design properties with the connection documentation.

Coupling nuts for rods and threaded components

When extending a threaded connection, both thread compatibility and engagement length inside the nut matter. A coupling nut joins two suitably selected externally threaded components. Before installation, establish load, alignment and securing requirements for the complete assembly. Matching nominal diameter alone does not determine correct selection.

DIN 6334 and AN 85 spacer nuts

3d coupling nuts DIN 6334 — a group of elongated nuts for joining threaded components. The 3d designation refers to a height of three nominal thread diameters; check detailed dimensions for the selected version.
AN 85 spacer nuts, steel, zinc-plated — a separate group for solutions requiring a specified spacing. Select length and version according to the component drawing.

How to select a coupling nut?

Check thread diameter, pitch and direction for both joined parts, nut length, width across flats and installation space. Consider material, property class where stated, and protective coating. Each component’s engagement length must meet design requirements; arbitrarily dividing the available length must not be assumed to provide the required load capacity. Select the coating for the operating environment and mating components.

Questions about coupling nuts

Can a spacer nut replace a coupling nut?

Only if its geometry, thread and properties meet the requirements of the specific connection. Similar appearance does not confirm interchangeability or permissible load.

What information is needed for selection?

Provide thread designation, connector length, parameters of both joined parts and operating conditions. A drawing showing required engagement length and assembly load is helpful.
