Clevis pins ISO 2341

ISO 2341 clevis pins for mechanical connections

A clevis pin joins mating parts of an assembly, often while allowing the rotational movement specified in the design. Selection requires comparison of geometry, fit, material and connection load. The NERON catalogue organises this group according to ISO 2341. The standard designation alone does not replace selecting dimensions and a version for the specific equipment.

Type A and type B according to ISO 2341

ISO 2341 covers headed clevis pins: type A without a split-pin hole and type B with such a hole. Check the variant designation and drawing when ordering. Do not assume every pin of this standard has a hole or that the hole is in the head. The correct version must match the retention method specified in the assembly.

Diameter, length and retention location

Compare shank diameter, length as defined in the drawing, head dimensions and hole position and diameter where present. Allow for the thickness of mating parts and space for the retaining component. Replacement based solely on overall length may lead to selection of the wrong version.

Material and interaction with other parts

Select the material and surface finish according to equipment requirements and the operating environment. A protective coating does not confirm suitability for all conditions. Wear in the mating part holes may affect the operation of a new pin, so compare their condition and dimensions with the documentation. If the design specifies a split pin or washer, select them as components of the same assembly.

How to prepare a clevis pin enquiry?

• Provide ISO 2341 and the type or complete product code.
• Specify diameter and length according to the drawing.
• Provide retaining hole dimensions and position where applicable.
• State the material, coating and required quantity.
• Include a drawing or photographs of the removed part and installation location.

Questions about clevis pins

Does every ISO 2341 pin have a split-pin hole?

No. The standard distinguishes type A without a hole and type B with a hole. Check the version of the specific product.

Are a clevis pin and a parallel pin the same thing?

They must not be treated as interchangeable. They may differ in design, tolerance and retention method. Compare the connection requirements; pins form a separate catalogue group.

Can I select a pin from a photograph?

A photograph helps identify the type, but dimensions and material requirements are also needed. For significant loads, selection must be based on assembly documentation.
