Thrust ball bearings

Thrust bearings – basic information, design and operating characteristics

The design of a thrust bearing includes an inner ring, an inner ring and rolling elements in the form of small balls. The surface of components of this type is usually flat, although convex models are also available. A thrust bearing combines low friction with a very high load capacity, making it versatile in application. However, it is important to select the right solution for the specific system. In particular, thrust bearings are divided into two basic groups:

• single-direction bearings – loads are transmitted in one direction;
• double-direction bearings – loads are transmitted in two directions; components in this category generally offer greater precision and rigidity.

The material most commonly used to manufacture thrust bearings is stainless steel, which allows these parts to be used in various systems, even those exposed to liquids. They are usually installed on the clutch shaft. The main task of a thrust bearing is to carry axial loads, which, together with high durability, provides a broad range of applications for these components.

What should you consider when choosing a thrust bearing?

A correctly selected thrust bearing should primarily match the design in terms of overall dimensions, parameters and material. The most important specifications are the inside diameter (designated “d”), outside diameter (“D”) and bearing thickness (“H”). All of these should be selected to suit the clutch shaft dimensions. Thrust bearings available from Neron are described in detail in terms of size and materials, making it easy to choose the right option. We invite you to explore our range. Here you will find thrust bearings and other bearings from renowned manufacturers such as ZVL, SNR, GBM and Neutral. These products are made of special bearing steel with properties ideally suited to the operating requirements of these components.
