The durability of keyed connections also depends on material quality. High-grade uncoated steel is used here. This steel offers enhanced resistance to abrasion, tension and deformation under dynamic loads. Some keys in our range undergo additional heat treatment processes, such as hardening, to increase their surface hardness. The products have no additional protective coatings, ensuring that they are always accurately dimensioned.

Benefits of using Woodruff keys

With their advantages, Woodruff keys complying with DIN 6888 eliminate several serious difficulties:

slip and assembly play,
reduction in key dimensions during operation,
difficulty achieving dimensional fit,
low machine operating efficiency.

Slip and play are among the most common problems in power transmission systems. They result in faster component wear and reduced operating efficiency. The Woodruff keys offered in the NERON shop are designed to fill the mounting grooves perfectly, minimising play. Torque is transmitted evenly, increasing the mechanism’s operating stability. Eliminating slip also reduces the risk of damage to the shaft and hub.

In some cases, lower-quality keys can undergo microdeformation during intensive use. These processes result from high loads and changing operating conditions such as vibration or sudden temperature changes. However, using Woodruff keys from the NERON range ensures dimensional stability during operation and trouble-free machine use.

Lack of manufacturing precision entails a risk of slip, cracks or key damage. DIN 6888 Woodruff keys eliminate this problem through precise manufacture with tolerances complying with international standards. Each key is manufactured with the highest accuracy on computer-controlled machines.
