General information
OMT4 series low-voltage three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors are manufactured in frame sizes 56÷160.
They have a one-piece cast aluminium housing,
with feet that can be unscrewed and repositioned.
They are surface-air-cooled (TEFC).
The terminal box is normally located on top of the housing,
with cable outlets that can be rotated 4×90°.
OMT4 motors are intended for general industrial use. They can be
used to drive machines and equipment whose operation is
continuous, without frequent starts and reversals.
Due to their enclosure protection rating (IP55), they can operate in
conditions where the ambient air contains contaminants.
However, the airborne dust concentration should not exceed 10 mg/m3.
These must not be chemically aggressive contaminants, such as
acid and alkali vapours, or explosive mixtures.
The motors are designed for operation in both directions.
Bearings
In the standard version, the motors are equipped with high-quality
ball bearings from SKF, FAG or NSK.
Bearings closed on both sides are used, filled with grease and
requiring no relubrication.
Standards
The motors are manufactured in accordance with PN-EN 60034-1, IEC34-1/9,
PN-IEC72-1, IEC85, DIN 57530/VDE 0530 and the associated
and equivalent standards.
Protection rating: IP55, to PN-IEC 34-5
Cooling system: IC411, to PN-IEC 34-6
Mechanical design: B3; B35; B5; B14, V1, to PN-IEC 34-7
Insulation class: F
Temperature rise: as for class B (≤80°C)
Ambient temperature: -20…+40°C
Installation altitude: ≤1000 m above sea level
Declaration of conformity, CE marking
OMT4 series motors meet the requirements for safe
use and are supplied with a copy of the manufacturer’s declaration
of conformity. The CE marking is placed on the nameplate
of each motor.
The motors are designed, manufactured and tested under an
ISO 9001 quality assurance system.
Windings. The stator windings are made of high-quality winding
wires and class F insulating materials (155ºC), while
maintaining temperature rises corresponding to class B (80ºC). This allows operation with frequency converters (inverters) and use in all climatic zones.
The rotor winding is a die-cast aluminium cage. To protect the motor windings (For motors with a minimum rated power of 0,75 kW) against excessive overheating, PTC thermistor temperature sensors (Mark A) with a rated response temperature TNF=150°C are used (1 pc./phase).
The PTC sensor characteristic complies with IEC 34.11-2.
For use with the PTC sensors, resistance relays
with a Mark A characteristic are recommended.
1. Eye protection:
– Always wear safety goggles or a face shield to protect your eyes from sparks, particles and metal fragments.
2. Hearing protection:
– When working in a noisy environment, use ear defenders or earplugs to prevent hearing damage.
3. Respiratory protection:
– When working in dusty surroundings or in the presence of fumes, wear a filtering mask or an appropriate respirator.
– Ensure proper ventilation of the workstation.
4. Hand and skin safety:
– Use protective gloves that protect against mechanical injuries and chemicals.
– Where necessary, use protective creams to prevent irritation and dry skin.
5. Work clothing:
– Work in protective clothing resistant to sparks and splashes.
– Avoid loose clothing, jewellery and loose hair near machinery.
6. Fire risk:
– Keep the workstation free of flammable materials (e.g. paper, fabrics and chemicals).
– Keep a serviceable fire extinguisher close at hand and know how to use it.
7. Electrical hazards:
– Check the condition of cables and electrical equipment before use.
– Do not use electrical devices in damp conditions.
– Disconnect equipment from the power supply during maintenance or repairs.
8. Use of machinery and tools:
– Regularly inspect the technical condition of machines and tools.
– Use equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
– Blades and tools should be maintained regularly and kept in good condition.
– Machines should be fitted with appropriate guards and protective devices.
9. Handling materials:
– Use handling equipment to move heavy components.
– Lift and carry using ergonomic practices to avoid injury.
10. Working with chemicals:
– Store chemicals in labelled, safe containers.
– Use substances in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and occupational health and safety rules.
– Ensure air circulation when using chemicals.
Other important rules:
– Keep the workstation clean and tidy.
– Ensure adequate lighting in the working area.
– Provide occupational health and safety training.
– Carry out regular safety audits and comply with current regulations.
