S235 steel — material overview
S235 is a non-alloy structural steel used for structural components and general-purpose parts. A hot-rolled flat bar has a characteristic matt surface that may carry mill scale. Depending on the application, the surface can be prepared for welding or corrosion protection. Section dimensions
The symbol a denotes flat bar width, t its thickness and L its length. On this card a = 100 mm, t = 25 mm and L = 2000 mm. EN 10058 uses the letter b for width.
