Selection and applications
Select belt profile, datum diameter, number of grooves, ratio and drive load. The bushing must be type 2517 with a bore matched to the shaft. Check the key connection, pulley alignment and belt tension. NERON in Piła helps select power transmission components.
Taper Lock 2517 installation tips
- Stop the drive and secure it against starting. Check the condition of pulley, bushing and shaft, and compatibility of their designations.
- Clean and degrease the shaft and tapered surfaces of the bushing and pulley seat. Align the half-holes according to the specific bushing's instructions; do not lubricate the taper. Prepare the screws according to their manufacturer's instructions.
- Position the assembly on the shaft. If a key is used, maintain the required clearance above it. Check alignment and tighten the screws evenly with a torque wrench.
- Select tightening torque for the manufacturer and type of bushing used. For the Optibelt 2517 bushing, the instructions specify two screws and 49 Nm. For the separately shown Hubber bushings, use Hubber documentation; do not transfer Optibelt values automatically.
- After approx. 0,5–1 hours of operation, stop and secure the drive, then check tightening torque, alignment and belt tension.
